alpha brainwaveThe alpha brainwave is important for witches. Therefore, learning to enter this state at will is valuable. Most effective witchcraft, in fact, happens in alpha state.

Previously, I covered this topic regarding how to achieve it in Meditation for Witches – Alpha Trigger. Since childhood, I have entered alpha state naturally, although I didn’t recognize it at first. For example, crossing my fingers (there’s a lot of lore about crossed fingers) would trigger a “shift.” Over time, I realized many others practiced similarly. Notably, authors like Laurie Cabot to Mat Auryn and others teach similar but different methods; however, the result remains the same.

Thus, this post explores alpha state in depth. Our brainwaves measure in cycles per second (cps) or hertz (Hz).

  • Beta (24-14 cps) – This is our waking state, so it involves thinking, working, and logical reasoning.
  • Alpha (14-07 cps) – This state fosters creativity, intuition, and psychic receptivity. As a result, magical workings thrive in this state.
  • Theta (07-03 cps) – It withdraws focus from physical senses and bodily control, making deep meditation possible.
  • Delta (03-0 cps) – This is deep sleep, the deepest trance, and the realm of astral travel.
  • Gamma (30-80 cps) These brainwaves are the fasted. While it can happen in meditation, think of intense, urgent problem solving. A critical timed test perhaps. The brain is in highest gear at this time. 

Right now, you are likely in beta state because you are actively reading. As your brain activity slows, cycles decrease, and alpha state emerges. Consequently, this shift becomes crucial for psychic and magical work.

Each night, your brain automatically enters alpha brainwave as you fall asleep. Furthermore, relaxing for a few minutes with closed eyes also triggers this state. A brief power nap, in contrast, can achieve the same effect even more quickly.

Alpha Brainwave and Its Benefits

Alpha state provides multiple benefits because it improves mental, emotional, and physical health. For instance, it lowers blood pressure, reduces stress, and enhances well-being. Unfortunately, many people don’t rest enough. However, spending time in alpha state gives three times the restorative power of sleep. Even taking just five to ten minutes during the day, in fact, refreshes the mind.

I frequently meditate before spell work since it enhances focus. In alpha state, I mentally review my intentions and visualize the results. Therefore, this practice strengthens magic and manifestation. Developing psychic abilities, likewise, improves spell work. Additionally, alpha state boosts memory, wisdom, and intuition.

In alpha state, information retention significantly increases. Since everyone experiences alpha brainwave naturally during sleep, psychic messages often arrive in this state. However, many remain unaware when they enter alpha.

Alpha Brainwave, Dreams, The Mind’s Vision Board

Dreams can be prophetic, but they often reflect emotional processing. They help us sort through thoughts and feelings, yet they also reveal subconscious fears and hopes.

You may be familiar with vision boards, which help manifest goals. Similarly, the mind has its own version some call the mind screen. It fills with personal experiences, emotions, and subconscious patterns. Therefore, this deeply influences dream imagery. Unlike traditional vision boards, however, this one forms from lived experiences rather than future desires.

Each person interprets dreams uniquely. Since culture, spiritual beliefs, and personal experiences shape meanings, no two people will view a dream the same way. Recognizing this helps transform dreams into learning opportunities. With awareness in alpha brainwave, we can even alter nightmares, solve problems, and gain insight.

Questions in Alpha State

Dreams and deep meditation allow psychic connections to form. Because of this, alpha brainwave enables communication and understanding.

For example, imagine dreaming of a man burning items in a fire. He wears ceremonial clothing, and then he turns to stare at you. Based on your background, you may assume danger. However, by using alpha state, you can question the vision. You might learn he is a Santeria practitioner burning clothing to remove insects.

Some people unknowingly engage in dream walking, which means their psychic energies interact with others. Dreams, therefore, blend personal emotions with external influences. Spirits, astral projections, or visiting energies may appear, but alpha state allows control over the experience.

Understanding Dream Differences

Each person dreams uniquely. Since some hear sounds while others do not, no two dreams are identical. Some dream in color, while others see only black and white. I experience vivid dreams, yet I have learned to remain calm and observe. Once I stopped fearing them, in alpha brainwave I noticed prophetic details unfolding in real life.

Preparing for Sleep and Meditation

Using a witch’s meditation before bed strengthens dream recall and control. Before sleeping, set an intention to remember your dreams. Additionally, affirm that you are an observer. Over time, this practice enhances awareness and retention.

Alpha State and Learning

Studying in alpha brainwave for long periods is challenging, yet short sessions work well. Since ten to fifteen minutes in this state significantly improves memory, I use it often. For example, if struggling to remember certain tarot meanings, I try a quick alpha session.

I enhance this process using color magic. Because yellow corresponds to intelligence, I burn a yellow candle atop a small mirror. It also helps with retention and recall. This amplifies focus, and as a result, it creates a high-quality study session.

Alpha on the Go

Witchcraft often requires flexibility. Since planetary hours and moon cycles hold power, many witches rely on them. However, sometimes quick action is necessary.

For instance, if I need someone to leave my store immediately, I induce alpha alpha brainwave state. I cross my fingers, trace circles clockwise, and visualize them exiting. As a result, they leave soon after.

Another example is securing the perfect seat. Because I visualize an ideal spot near the door or a window before arriving, I usually find one. Similarly, I ask the Greenman for a pause in the rain so my dogs can go outside when I get home.

Even something as simple as finding a parking spot becomes effortless with practice. Since alpha state aligns with universal energy, it helps direct outcomes effectively.

Chakra Meditation: Before You Begin

First, take your time to learn this meditation before attempting it. Additionally, you can record your own guided meditation using this as a script for instructions.

Once you have reinforced your crossed fingers alpha trigger and are in indigo mode, begin by feeling your being. Not only should you feel your physical body, but you should also sense your ethereal or astral body. This is the part of your being that is pure energy—part of, yet also separate from, your physical body. At this point, visualize yourself rising out of your body, though you can still feel it. As you ascend, move through the roof, keeping your eyes on the sky while going higher, though slowly at first. As you rise, look down and see your community as you imagine it. Furthermore, as you continue ascending, you see more and more of the community and the land. Eventually, you begin to see beyond your community, and soon, you can practically see your whole state or province.

Rise even higher, and now you start to see the curvature of the earth. In this chakra meditation, you notice the thin protective blue band that is our atmosphere. Now, as you shift your gaze to the sky again, you are approaching space. As a result, the blue of our sky fades away, and you see it—like white diamonds scattered over black velvet.

Next, turn and look back at the earth, appearing beautifully green and blue with white clouds. After that, turn away and go past the moon, then our sun, and finally the planets as you go faster. By this time, you’re hauling astral-witch-butt. Although you have no clue where you’re going, you feel confident and have no fear.

Chakra Meditation: 7 Color & Energy Centers

  • Root Chakra (Muladhara): Located at the base of the spine, associated with stability and survival.
  • Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana): Situated below the navel, related to creativity, emotions, and relationships.
  • Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura): Found in the upper abdomen, lower sternum, linked to confidence, self-esteem, and personal power.
  • Heart Chakra (Anahata): Centered in the chest, representing love, compassion, and connection.
  • Throat Chakra (Vishuddha): Located in the throat area, associated with communication and self-expression.
  • Third Eye Chakra (Ajna): Situated between the eyebrows, related to intuition, insight, and spiritual awareness.
  • Crown Chakra (Sahasrara): At the top of the head, connected to higher consciousness and enlightenment.

Root Chakra

Now, somewhere deep in the unknown Universe, you slow down, stop, and just suspend yourself. In this chakra meditation, you can still feel your physical body somewhere, yet you remain connected to it. At this moment, you notice a red light in the distance approaching. As it comes closer, it resembles a deep red sparkling crystal, which quickly flies toward you and snaps into place in the root chakra area at the base of your spine. Instantly, you feel the energies of stability and survival. As a result, your personal strength is amplified. Take a long moment to appreciate this and every chakra energy.

Sacral Chakra

Soon, a glowing orange light appears—an orange crystal moving toward you at great speed. As it snaps into place in the sacral chakra, you immediately feel the pure energies of creativity, emotions, and relationships. In this chakra meditation, you realize that it is okay to feel your emotions, yet it is important not to be ruled by them.

Solar Plexus Chakra

Next, a yellow light and crystal approach. As it locks into place, you feel the powerful energies of confidence, self-esteem, and personal power. In this moment, you realize like never before how capable a being you truly are. Now, you know you can learn and achieve mastery over anything you desire.

Heart Chakra

Then, a green light appears—accompanied by tiny dancing pink lights—and locks into the heart chakra area. Immediately, you feel the potent energies of love, compassion, and connection. Now, you realize you are connected to all things, and you understand that the Universe prefers love. At this point, think for a moment about those who have hurt you. However, instead of negativity, you feel compassion. Consequently, you begin to understand that justice and compassion can go hand in hand. Likewise, you realize that self-love is essential for spiritual, mental, and emotional health. As a result, the feeling is truly tremendous.

Throat Chakra

Suddenly, a light blue sparkling crystal approaches and locks into place in the throat chakra area. In this chakra meditation, you feel the powerful energies of self-expression and communication. Because of this, you are no longer afraid of speaking your personal truth, and although you express it with diplomacy, you do express it. Furthermore, you are no longer hesitant to speak with others, as you listen deeply and communicate effectively. Now, you realize you are free to be your true, authentic self.

Third Eye Chakra

Now, an indigo crystal—deep blue with a touch of purple—approaches and locks into your third eye chakra area. As a result, you feel the intoxicating energies of intuition, insight, and spiritual awareness. Because of this, you now understand that you are a psychic witch. Additionally, you sense and perceive subtle energies easily, and you know them accurately. Experiencing precognition and premonition, you even pick up thoughts from people’s minds, though you simply hadn’t realized it before.

Crown Chakra

Lastly, a beautiful, sparkling silver, gold, and crystalline light appears. As this brilliant crystal locks into place in the crown chakra area, you feel an undeniable connection to the source, the divine, and higher consciousness. In this moment, you recognize that you are part of divinity itself. Now, you can access the Akashic records, and because of this, you understand that there is a greater purpose and that you have access to ancient wisdom. As you experience this, you feel yourself merging with your higher self.

Returning from Meditation

Now, take your time to enjoy this moment. However, when you are ready, begin your journey back to your body, retracing your steps just as you left. If you went fast, return quickly. If you went slow, come back gradually. As you exit this chakra meditation, do so slowly and gently. Although you may not realize it yet, repeating this meditation every few weeks will change you profoundly.

What if you could download answers to deep questions or unlock hidden magical knowledge? Naturally, that idea excites most of us.

Still, we are not referring to the medieval Emerald Tablets from classical alchemical traditions. Hermes Trismegistus, according to legend, left cryptic wisdom in these texts. Allegedly, that wisdom could guide the reader toward creating the Philosopher’s Stone. Supposedly, this mythical stone could transform base metals into gold. Nevertheless, the tablets explored more than transmutation—they dove deeply into philosophical principles.

In this meditation, I refer to the esoteric Emerald Tablet of Hermes Thrice Great, also known as the occult all-father. Within pagan traditions, Hermes often appears as the original world-teacher. The Emerald Tablet (or Tabula Smaragdina) remains a legendary esoteric text linked to Egypt’s Thoth or Hermes Trismegistus. So far, no one has uncovered physical tablets. Even so, the Seven Hermetic Principles derived from them prove incredibly useful in witchcraft.

The Esoteric Emerald Tablet

I describe this tablet as esoteric because, to date, no physical version has been discovered.

  • Mythic Origins: The Emerald Tablet remains widely regarded as a legendary manuscript instead of a literal object. Significantly, it is believed to offer key teachings on alchemy, metaphysics, and the structure of the universe.

  • Linked to Hermes Trismegistus: Traditionally, people credit Hermes Trismegistus—a mystical blend of Egyptian and Greek ideas—with writing the text.

  • Multiple Versions Over Time: Over centuries, the text appeared in multiple forms. Originally, it surfaced in Arabic literature and was eventually translated into Latin during the medieval period.

  • Michael Doreal’s Account: In 1925, Michael Doreal claimed to discover the tablets inside the Great Pyramid of Giza. He later translated them into his book The Emerald Tablets of Thoth the Atlantean.

  • Lack of Tangible Proof: Despite these stories and translations, no solid evidence supports the existence of the tablets. Therefore, they continue to inspire speculation and esoteric debate.

According to legend, the tablets spoke of the Philosopher’s Stone and alchemical transmutation. Yet, their deeper purpose had little to do with turning lead into gold. Rather, the Emerald Tablet teaches mental mastery. Consequently, it guides us toward altering inner vibration for profound transformation.

Meditation: Downloading

First, begin with an alpha-trigger meditation. Once you reach an alpha brainwave state, you may then move into the Emerald Tablet phase.

If you are right-handed, rest your left palm upward in your lap. Conversely, left-handers should use the right palm. This posture helps balance the act of sending and receiving energy.

With your hand in place, visualize an emerald the size of your palm. Importantly, imagine a flat, shiny green surface in your palm and a pointed back extending outward. This emerald is your personal tablet.

Immediately, you’ll notice the tablet warm and begin to pulse with energy. Naturally, it feels alive. Next, touch the gem’s surface using your opposite hand. Stroke the emerald gently. Then, turn it over to examine it fully. Instinctively, you’ll sense vast wisdom and a powerful connection to The All—the universal source.

This emerald tablet can answer questions and transmit healing energy. Therefore, if you have a question, look into the tablet using your mind’s eye. Ask clearly and listen. Although the answer may not arrive instantly, it will come.

Sometimes, guidance appears in dreams or through a friend’s timely comment. Alternatively, another meditation may bring clarity. You might also receive your answer via symbolic messages or tarot cards.

If no answer arrives right away, trust that it is still coming. In truth, timing often matters more than immediacy.

Lock the Emerald Tablet for Future Use

Once you feel confident with the emerald tablet, go ahead and lock it into your energy field. Consequently, you’ll be able to recall it quickly anytime. To anchor it, visualize it cementing into place. You might even speak the words “It is fixed” or “It is locked.”

Then, return naturally to your regular waking state. You can either rise slowly from alpha or count to ten—twice if needed.

Eventually, this emerald tablet will serve you in many ways. You can use it to gain insight, heal emotional or physical issues, and understand complicated situations.

Personally, I love this meditation. After all, it helps me make clearer, more aligned decisions.

Now, you might think, “But I can handle it. I’m strong!” And to that, I say: sure, you are. But are you strong enough to live with the emotional weight of every miserable person you encounter? Are you prepared to absorb all the sadness, stress, or anger from those around you, especially when you’re not mentally or emotionally prepared? Sometimes, you can walk into a room and instantly know what everyone is feeling, without them saying a word. In fact, you may even start to feel their emotions more intensely than your own. This is where empath protection becomes crucial. If you’re not careful, you’ll easily get swept up in the emotional currents of the people around you, losing yourself in the process. Not to mention, those energies can be draining.

The real trick is learning how to separate your energy from others’. You might think, “Isn’t that just a normal thing to do?” Nope. If you’re an empath, it’s incredibly difficult. Boundary-setting for empaths isn’t just about saying “no” to others; it’s about saying “yes” to your own emotional health. You need to decide what energies you’re willing to absorb and which ones you’d rather avoid. Sometimes, the best form of empath protection is simply walking away from a situation. If you’re about to be engulfed by negativity at a party, take that as your cue to exit. If you’re in a conversation with someone who thrives on drama and chaos, kindly excuse yourself.

The ability to discern where you’re needed and where you’re not is critical. You can’t be everyone’s emotional sponge, and no, it’s not selfish to want to protect your own energy. It’s essential for your mental and physical health. Trust me, stress can manifest as real physical symptoms if you don’t put a stop to it. So, start practicing these boundaries. I promise, your energy will thank you later.

Managing the Environment Around You

You’ve probably heard it before: your environment plays a huge role in how you feel, especially if you’re an empath. Negative or chaotic spaces will make you feel drained or even agitated. So, if you’re serious about empath protection, take a good look at the places you frequent and the people you spend time with.

Living behind closed doors in a space that isn’t energetically aligned with your needs won’t help you either. What you don’t want is to be surrounded by clutter, negative emotions, or toxic energy. That’s a recipe for disaster. If you’re working from home, take time to cleanse your space and make it a sanctuary where you feel calm and safe. You can use herbs, crystals, or even sage to clear negative energy. But remember, empath protection is more than just magical tools—creating a healthy environment means surrounding yourself with people who respect your boundaries and share your values.

Also, pay attention to what you consume. This isn’t just about food, but the media, conversations, and the company you keep. If your mental health constantly faces negativity—whether it’s from social media, news, or a toxic friend—you’ll soon feel the effects. The emotional energy you absorb impacts your physical health, too. Stress and anxiety will manifest in all kinds of ways, from physical tension to headaches and even insomnia. That’s a big sign it’s time to implement some empath protection strategies.

Magical Protection Tools for Empath Protection.

Okay, let’s talk about the fun stuff: magic! You have plenty of ways to protect your energy using magical tools, like crystals, herbs, and spells. There are some great herbs for cleansing and purification. These can be great for enhancing your empath protection, but let me remind you, these tools are secondary. As I mentioned earlier, mundane protection should always come first. If you continue to surround yourself with negative people or toxic environments, no amount of crystal healing will save you. But when you’ve got your life in order, and your energy protected, magical tools can be incredibly helpful.

Crystals like amethyst, black tourmaline, and rose quartz are well-known for their protective qualities. They help shield you from negative energy and create a calming atmosphere. Herbs like sage and palo santo work wonders for clearing space, while oils like lavender and frankincense help soothe your own energy. These are all tools you can use to maintain a peaceful, balanced environment.

Also, don’t underestimate the power of a good intention. When you set a clear intention to protect your energy, you manifest that reality. Your mind is a powerful tool, and when combined with these physical tools, you create a strong barrier between you and the chaos around you.

empathBeing an empath can be very difficult, even painful for most. I have helped a lot of people in life, especially at our metaphysical shop, learn to dance with this talent. It’s gratifying to see them learning how to live without either suffering or hiding themselves away from the world. That’s no way to live.

I often meet empathic people when I’m doing tarot readings, in our metaphysical shop, but even just visiting. I used to suffer too, but then I learned and so will you. Connect with us for more on Instagram, Facebook (Meta) or TikTok.

But let’s start by understanding basic human empathy. We see the furrow in someone’s brow, the tears well up. Perhaps it’s the vein pulsing in their forehead. But we see the physical signs of stress, sadness, anger etc. and respond with compassion. Yep, there you go, basic human compassion, something I wish more people had in great quantities.

Psychic empathy is the same, but also different. Most people, while they could relate, can’t actually feel what someone else is feeling. They might have pity or compassion, but they do not experience the specific hurt or negativity of another. Empaths do. It can be anywhere from grossly irritating, to stressful, to overwhelming.

And that’s the problem for empathic people. Nearly every single empath I’ve come across is a suffering mess. But I know why. I often have this conversation in our tarot room.

I notice that most empaths hang on to every little hurt and every little compliment like it’s precious. Hoarding these feelings, but just a part of what makes them feel “sick”.

Being an Empath – Gift or Curse?

Some people would call being an empath a curse, others would say it’s a gift. I advise people to think of it as neither gift or curse, but a talent only. For an empath, gift or curse would depend on how you use it. Below is a simple, but very effective way to start training your mind to use psychic empathy more correctly.

It is worth the time to do a little meditation here and there. Take some time out to mentally prepare before you engage with other people. Know ahead of time, as much as you can, what you are walking into.

The Dance of an Empath

This is best illustrated by telling you a tale I’ve told hundreds of times in my life. I used this one experience to educate hundreds about being an empath.

This girl, she didn’t come to see me specifically, but at our metaphysical shop. Right away I knew she was depressed, but also angry. I could feel it, but it didn’t take a psychic to know, just one look in her eyes would have told you.

I told her to come with me and gave her a pro-bono reading. Boy she had a lot of toxic people she kept company with. Sigh, empaths often do, I know I did once upon a time. I knew she struggled to make healthy boundaries, but I also knew she didn’t know why, but I did. So, I taught her a game.

I told her ever since she was little, she had been able to easily pick up on other people’s feelings. I pointed out she felt their anger, loneliness or anxiety and made her feel “sick”. She nodded yes and tears were already flowing. Every time it made her feel sick. I pointed out the only way she knew to try and feel better was to “fix” them. You can’t, I told her, no one is yours to fix. And I pointed out, she would just try harder and harder and then blame herself when they didn’t behave better. What an unnecessary self-imposed guilt trip.

I asked her, for trying to help them, how has that been for you? How is this fair to you? What are you getting out of it. Let them go, I told her, make the healthy boundaries. Now learn to play this game.

How to Play the Game

I told this young empath; I want you to imagine you are at a familiar house with some friends and a few people you just met. You’re having a great time and then, boom! Out of nowhere; anger, anxiety, depression, loneliness. Now take these four steps and play the game.

  • Ask yourself, is this emotion appropriate for you right now, is it timely? If not, it doesn’t belong to you.
  • Look around the room, you have an “aha” moment, oh, it’s you as you spot who’s emanating that energy.
  • Make a mental boundary with that feeling, this is your invitation to ask them “are you alright?” This in turn becomes their invitation to regale you with some or all their miserable, soggy life-story.
  • This becomes your invitation again, to give kind, simple and loving advice and then it’s “case closed”. Refuse to live in or embody that person’s emotions.

If you are an empath and suffering, try this. Save that gift only for those you love the most with rare exception. Be determined, stick to your guns, and you won’t want to hide as much from people. You also won’t be as affected. You can also meditate on this and see yourself doing it.

You are not forcing or performing; instead, you are listening. Finally, focus on sensing energy without strain, like noticing the air shift before rain.

Feeling an Aura: Preparing the Mind and Body

Now, begin to achieve a meditative state and allow your awareness to soften. I mute the phone and put my dogs out unless they’re napping. Then, sit comfortably with your back straight and your feet flat on the floor. Next, close your eyes and take a slow, deep breath to center yourself.

As you exhale, imagine every ounce of tension melting away. Meanwhile, continue breathing slowly, allowing the breath to travel deeper each time.

With each exhale, release stress, worry, and tension completely. Finally, let peace flow gently through your body.

Afterward, to deepen the meditation, focus on your breathing rhythm with steady intention. First, count slowly to four as you inhale, then hold the breath for a count of four.

Next, exhale gently for another count of four to maintain calmness. Then, repeat this process for several cycles to quiet your thoughts. Gradually, notice how calm and light your body begins to feel.

Ultimately, this exercise activates the right hemisphere of your brain, the intuitive and creative side.

I highly recommend learning to meditate and achieve a state of alpha brainwave. That will help you with all psychic exercises.

Sometimes, people see auras spontaneously during creative moments. While painting, writing, or dancing, their energy becomes aligned and open naturally. Consequently, passionate activity awakens the intuitive self without effort.

When that side of the mind activates, perception expands beyond logic. In turn, you might see subtle colors or sense vibrations around others without meaning to. Therefore, this happens because the right brain perceives energy as movement, color, and rhythm.

Feeling the Energy Between Your Hands

Feeling Aura Energy ExercisesWhen you’re ready, gently stretch your body to restore circulation. Next, roll your shoulders, stretch your fingers, and take a moment to re-center. Then, open your eyes slowly and allow natural light to re-enter your awareness. Afterward, sit quietly for a moment before moving.

Notice how still and refreshed you feel. Often, we skip this stage before sleep, and therefore wake up tense and tired despite resting.

Now, begin the first tactile exercise to feel energy directly. Hold your palms facing each other about six inches apart. Then, relax your arms completely and breathe naturally.

Meanwhile, focus softly on the space between your hands and stay relaxed. Gradually, you may begin to feel a tingling or warmth forming.

This sensation represents energy. In martial arts, it’s called chi, the life force that flows through every living thing.

Slowly move your hands closer together, then farther apart. Notice the change in pressure or resistance as your palms shift. When your hands come near, you might feel subtle resistance, almost like two magnets facing each other.

If you hold that position for a while, the sensation may fade. That happens because the aura of each hand merges with the other temporarily.

Now, pull your hands apart again and breathe deeply. You might feel a slight coolness as the auras separate once more. This contrast helps you learn what energy feels like in motion.

With consistent practice, your sensitivity naturally increases. Everyone experiences energy differently. Some sense heat, others coolness, tingling, or gentle pulsing. Therefore, let curiosity guide you, and avoid rushing the experience.

Feeling an Aura: Exploring the Chakras

To deepen your understanding, explore the body’s energy centers, known as chakras. These seven primary chakras align from the base of the spine to the crown of the head. Each one governs a different aspect of body, mind, and spirit. When balanced, energy flows freely.

However, when blocked, fatigue or emotional imbalance can appear. Feeling these centers teaches you where attention and healing are needed.

The first is the Root Chakra, located at the base of the spine. It governs grounding, stability, and survival instincts. Next is the Sacral Chakra, below the navel, which connects to creativity, pleasure, and emotion

Then comes the Solar Plexus Chakra near the stomach, associated with willpower and confidence. Together, these three create your physical and emotional foundation.

Afterward, focus on the Heart Chakra at the center of the chest. It radiates love, compassion, and forgiveness. Above it lies the Throat Chakra, which governs communication and truth.

Next, the Third Eye Chakra sits between the eyebrows, representing intuition and inner vision. Finally, the Crown Chakra rests at the top of the head, connecting you to higher consciousness and spiritual awareness.

Once you understand their locations, begin feeling an aura of your own chakras with purpose. Place your receptive hand about a foot in front of your heart area.

Then, move your hand slowly closer until you sense a gentle pressure or density. You might feel warmth, pulsing, or an almost solid sensation. That’s your heart chakra’s aura responding to your attention and intention.

Finally, move your hand away again and breathe evenly. Notice the subtle pull or cooling as the sensation fades. This exercise trains your awareness to recognize energy. When you’ve practiced with the heart chakra, explore others one at a time. Stay patient and relaxed as each reveals its unique vibration.

  • 7 – Root Chakra (Muladhara) – Located at the base of the spine. Governs grounding, security, and physical survival. Its energy anchors you to stability, safety, and presence in the material world.
  • 6 – Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana) – Located just below the navel. Connects to creativity, pleasure, and emotional flow. Its energy inspires passion, relationships, and joyful expression.
  • 5 – Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura) – Located near the stomach area. Fuels willpower, confidence, and personal strength. Its energy empowers decision-making and self-assurance.
  • 4 – Heart Chakra (Anahata) – Located at the center of the chest. Radiates love, compassion, and forgiveness. Its energy bridges the physical and spiritual, opening space for empathy and healing.
  • 3 – Throat Chakra (Vishuddha) – Located at the throat. Governs communication and truth. Its energy supports honest expression, creativity, and the courage to speak with clarity.
  • 2 – Third Eye Chakra (Ajna) – Located between the eyebrows. Represents intuition, insight, and perception. Its energy enhances awareness, imagination, and spiritual vision.
  • 1 – Crown Chakra (Sahasrara) – Located at the top of the head. Connects you to divine consciousness and universal energy. Its energy expands awareness, peace, and unity with all that is.

You’ll get to the point when you can see an aura is bright and healthy, or faded or muted and be better able to help others.

Practicing Feeling an Aura with a Friend

Hopefully, your friend moves at a similar pace, which helps both of you learn about feeling an aura together. Together, you can compare sensations and share notes openly. When you feel confident sensing your own chakras, try feeling another person’s energy field.

Approach respectfully and communicate clearly before beginning. This stage becomes a bridge between sensing and reading energy. As you grow attuned, you’ll notice that each chakra reveals emotional or spiritual information through subtle vibration.

Reading chakras can help you understand where a person’s energy feels strong, blocked, or depleted. For instance, a tight heart chakra might suggest guarded emotions or grief. A dim solar plexus may indicate fatigue or lost confidence. Therefore, recognizing these signals helps guide healing work and personal growth.

You are not diagnosing; instead, you are listening through energy. Awareness alone can begin to shift imbalances.

You can perform these experiments sitting or lying down comfortably. Comfort helps perception and focus. Additionally, auras expand and contract depending on emotion and environment. When you share love or intimacy, your aura often blends with another’s.

That’s why you can feel someone’s presence even before they speak. However, in stressful or crowded places, our auras naturally contract or repel others to maintain balance.

Building Awareness

By staying grounded and centered, you can keep your own aura strong and clear. As a result, you remain balanced no matter what energies surround you.

Now, try the final exercise in this session to sharpen your intuition. Stand on one side of a large room facing a wall. Have your friend start quietly at the opposite side. Ask them to walk slowly toward you. Keep your eyes closed and focus on sensing when they approach. See if you can feel their presence before hearing them. Then, tell them to stop when you sense them near.

Trade roles and repeat the process carefully. Notice how your body reacts, perhaps a subtle tingling, warmth, or instinctive knowing. This experiment teaches energetic awareness beyond sight or sound.

Feeling someone’s aura becomes intuitive the more you practice. Eventually, you’ll detect distance, emotion, or intent simply by tuning into the energy around you.

Next Steps

Each exercise strengthens your intuitive muscles over time. The more you practice, the easier it becomes to distinguish between your own energy and another’s. Trust what you feel, and stay curious. Energy awareness develops through patience, consistency, and gentle attention.

You can’t rush intuition, but you can nurture it through mindful daily practice. Each session adds another layer to your understanding of subtle energy.

People always ask me how to see auras, as if there’s a magic switch hidden in my third eye. I wish it were that easy. Seeing energy fields or sensing them intuitively is both simple and complex. Either way, the information that comes through often shocks clients and patrons at our metaphysical shop. Therefore, I encourage people to explore both approaches and trust whichever feels right.

Skeptics, of course, love to argue. They demand proof, double-blind studies, and scientific validation. Meanwhile, the rest of us are busy actually doing the work. I say let them doubt. It keeps them busy while we learn something useful. Auras reveal truth more honestly than words, and anyone who practices long enough can see that for themselves.

Before you begin, set realistic expectations. Seeing auras takes practice, patience, and curiosity. You will not suddenly start seeing glowing rainbows around your friends tomorrow. However, with dedication, you will begin noticing subtle shifts in light, texture, and feeling. These changes show the layers of energy surrounding living beings. Therefore, relax, stay open, and let perception unfold naturally.

How to See Auras: The Finger Energy Exercise

Then slowly pull them apart while holding your hands over a dark, plain background. If you pay attention, you might notice a faint thread connecting them. As you repeat the movement, the thread of light will last longer and stretch farther. It looks fragile but feels alive. Energy follows attention, so the more you focus, the stronger it becomes. When you feel comfortable, try all four fingers at once. As your sensitivity grows, the space between your hands may shimmer softly.

If you have a partner, invite them to join you. Watch their fingers as they repeat the same motion. You might see their energy move differently than yours. Sometimes, it flickers; sometimes, it steadies. Either way, it teaches you how personal energy patterns behave. Keep the mood light and fun, because tension blocks perception every single time.

The Shared Aura Experiment

Soon, you’ll start noticing faint threads of light stretching between fingertips. These tiny lines show how energy travels and connect. They often crisscross into a beautiful, glowing web of movement. Interestingly, you may see longer, brighter connections with people you like and shorter, duller ones with those who irritate you. Therefore, this exercise reveals emotional dynamics as well as spiritual energy.

Energy doesn’t lie. When people are calm, their light blends smoothly. When they are tense, the energy retracts or flickers. It’s fascinating to watch how relationships appear energetically. This experiment also shows how easily we influence each other’s auras. Because of this, it’s an excellent reminder to protect and cleanse your own energy regularly.

The Wall Exercise

Find a plain cream-colored or white wall and dim the lights to soften the atmosphere or use a dark wall in regular lighting. Spread your fingers slightly and hold your hand in front of it. Look through your fingers, not at them. Allow your eyes to soften and observe the background rather than your skin.

After a few seconds, you’ll see a faint milky outline around your hand. That is your aura. It may appear transparent at first, almost like fog or heat waves. Don’t worry about color yet. Color appears with time, practice, and familiarity. As your eyes relax, you’ll start noticing texture, brightness, and occasionally subtle color changes.

If you’re frustrated, take a deep breath and try again. You’re retraining your vision, so patience matters. Also, wear comfortable, loose clothing during practice, because tight clothing can disrupt energy flow. For a more natural experience, you can even try practicing skyclad, which means without clothes. Just make sure the blinds are closed, unless you enjoy awkward explanations.

I often examine the energy of my hand at night, lights out, eyes closed. Try waving the palm of your hand in front of your face or holding it in front of your face fingers outspread. Move your hand closer and further and closer again slowly. See it? Wonderful!

How to See Auras in Daily Life

Once you can sense or glimpse energy, try applying your skills in everyday settings. Look at people while waiting in line or sitting in a park. Don’t stare directly at them, because focus narrows perception. Instead, soften your gaze and look slightly past them. Peripheral vision often picks up energetic color and motion far more easily.

In time, you’ll start noticing color flickers, halos, or a gentle light around people. Sometimes, you’ll feel emotional impressions instead of visual cues. Either way, both are valid forms of perception. Crowded places like concerts or malls might feel overwhelming at first. Therefore, start in calmer environments until your sensitivity strengthens. Energy awareness grows best without pressure.

As you develop, you’ll receive information beyond emotion. You may begin sensing facts, patterns, or even health issues. Over years of reading auras for clients, I’ve learned that truth always surfaces through energy. People might hide feelings, but their light gives them away instantly. That honesty is what makes aura reading powerful and rewarding.

Intuitive Versus Physical Sight

Let’s revisit the biggest argument: physical sight versus intuitive sense. I experience both. Sometimes, I see auras physically as color or light. Other times, the images appear inside my mind. Both are real. The difference lies in perception, not validity. Skeptics love to debate, but I prefer results. My readings have proven accurate too many times to dismiss.

Documentation makes subtle progress visible.

Ignore the critics entirely. They’ll demand proof until the sun burns out. Meanwhile, you’ll be quietly expanding your perception. Critics often mistake skepticism for intelligence, but intuition has its own form of wisdom. Besides, their energy always looks a little gray around the edges. I’m joking, of course—but not entirely.

Seeing auras isn’t about convincing anyone else. It’s about understanding the living energy that connects all things. You learn to read emotion, intent, and truth in ways words never show. Whether you see colors or feel sensations, each perception carries value. Therefore, stay patient and curious, and let your awareness unfold naturally.

With continued practice, aura reading becomes second nature. It deepens empathy and sharpens intuition. Each color tells a story, and each vibration teaches a lesson. You’ll need a calm space, so fire up a little sage and banish negativity. Light a candle for some ambience. Put your phone on mute or off. My point is we don’t just flop down and Zen-out. Learn more about Alpha Brainwave before trying this meditation.

meditation for witches alphaRelax before attempting to meditate so you will feel relaxed when you do. When I guide and hold a group meditation, it always starts sitting with quiet conversation. I also tend to have the lights down lower and give my dogs time to assume their nap positions. Think of two types of meditation too, active and passive. Active mediation is like going for a walk in the woods. While you move your body, your mind is focused elsewhere. Or doing something second nature with the hands like crafting while we think. It can also be sitting quietly watching the birds while you focus on something.

Passive meditation is sitting very still, not moving with slow breathing and heartrate. This is more of a totally inward exercise. There’s also the matter of ambient noise or silence. Around here, I can hear cars, but it’s actually faint. There is always the ticking of one of my clocks and most times I certainly hear birds. But it’s all constant and fairly quiet. I expect your environment is probably similar.

Meditation for Witches to Achieve Alpha State

This meditation for witches teaches you how to induce a state of alpha brainwave. This is the state where the most effective witchcraft takes place. Many slip into this state of brainwave without realizing it. Like when you go to bed, the room is dark, you lay there breathing. Your breath slows down, so does your heartrate, the mind is calmer. Your awareness shifts. It’s like you are still aware of everything, but your energy and focus are within you.

Now, if you’re engaging in electronics for gossip and drama right up until bedtime, this is not likely to happen.

There are five types of brainwaves we are concerned with:

Delta –The slowest brain waves, usually associated with deep sleep. They can also occur during intense meditation or severe brain injury.

Theta – Slower than alpha waves, theta waves are associated with the subconscious mind and deep meditation. Yes, with this meditation Theta is achievable.

Alpha – The first conscious brain wave, alpha waves are associated with a relaxed and focused state. They are linked to pleasant feelings and are helpful for learning and coordination. This is a deep feeling state, but “active” enough to process inwardly and outwardly. Again, this is where the most active witchcraft happens.

Beta – Associated with alertness, logic, and critical reasoning, beta waves are necessary for proper functioning throughout the day. You’re mostly likely in Beta now. We spend most of our waking hours in Beta.

Gamma – The fastest brain waves, gamma waves are associated with problem-solving and information processing. We access this state intermittently as needed to process complicated or urgent things. I achieve this state when I’m seriously studying something.

Meditation for Witches and M.I.T.

Now I am eager to tell you about MIT studies and this meditation for witches, what’s the connection? I love to read their public studies and experiments.

They held an experiment like decades ago, and invited people who had all been blind since birth. They have these balls, each one the same size, weight and texture. Each ball, however, was a different color; red, green, blue, etc. Each of the individuals was asked sit and when ready touch a ball with the index finger. They were then asked to talk about what came to mind.

Interestingly, when touching green they spoke about growth, health, money, prosperity. When asked about what came to mind touching the blue ball, they spoke about emotions. They spoke about water and moods and dreams but also the sky. The red one brought to mind anger, love, motivation and creativity among other things. Tell me that isn’t weirdly wonderful, right?

The point is in witchcraft, that’s what those colors basically correspond to. We use correspondences in candle magic too for instance. Purple for justice or psychic development, green for money, travel, luck, success, healing etc. We use yellow for socializing, anxieties and to increase retention and recall when studying. Doesn’t that just bake your noodle? And remember, they were born blind and have never seen colors to make those associations.

There are hundreds of meridians in the human body. They’re like physical but also energy points, sort of like nerve centers in a way. But the meridian in your index fingertip is “sight” and the meridian in your middle fingertip is “recall”.

A Witch’s Meditation – Fingers Crossed

This brings me to part of the actual meditation. Crossing recall (middle fingertip) over sight (index fingertip) and creating a psychological trigger. The trigger is meant to induce a state of alpha brainwave.

I have been crossing my fingers all my life, even when I was a child. Yeah, I was that weird creepy kid that stuff happened around. I was always an outsider. But that’s not my point. Whenever I was stressed and needed calm or felt threatened or afraid. Whenever I longed or wished for something. Yep, crossed my fingers. This witch’s meditation will increase you.

There is a ton of lore out there about crossed fingers. I think perhaps the information I’ve given you so far plays a big part in it.

Chakra Energies and Colors in Meditation

I promise we’ll get to the actual meditation soon, hang in there. So, from the root chakra to the crown chakra, we’re going to see those colors. Here is a brief explanation of them, but you’re not required to know all of this by heart for the mediation.

Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana): Situated below the navel, related to creativity, emotions, and relationships.

Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura): Found in the upper abdomen, linked to confidence, self-esteem, and personal power.

Heart Chakra (Anahata): Centered in the chest, representing love, compassion, and connection.

Throat Chakra (Vishuddha): Located in the throat area, associated with communication and self-expression.

Third Eye Chakra (Ajna): Situated between the eyebrows, related to intuition, insight, and spiritual awareness.

Crown Chakra (Sahasrara): At the top of the head, connection to higher consciousness and enlightenment.

In this meditation we’re going to do a color or crystal countdown or up depending on how you view it.

The root chakra is the lowest, physically speaking, base of spine. It helps to have a chakra bracelet or something with the chakra colors on it in order. This will help you visualize and learn the order and colors. You’re going to visualize each color. This is been done in so many ways. You can see the number in the color; Red Seven, for instance, Orange Six etc. picture the number in the color, or the word in the color. Another idea, see the beach, the water turns red, then the plants and sand, the sky and clouds … then orange, then yellow, then green and so on.

Indigo Two, Welcome to Alpha

You want to first spend a good couple of minutes in each color, become that color. I often see the carpet, the walls, furniture, clothes and even the very air. Don’t rush it. Plan on about 15 minutes for this meditation overall.

But think 7 red, six orange, 5 yellow, 4 green, 3 blue sky, 2 Indigo, 1 silver, crystalline and gold colors, this is the crown chakra.

But for Alpha, we stop at two, indigo. Indigo is a deep blue with a touch of purple. Most of your chakra products will have something purple, like amethyst. This is because it corresponds with the mind’s eye, psychic talents and intuition, but yes, indigo.

In this meditation, it is easy to start feeling like you are falling asleep. A half an hour in a state of alpha is about equivalent to about three hours of stage one sleep. It’s not a deep, restorative sleep, but sometimes it helps when you’re tired.

Should you start feeling like a coma is coming on, count yourself up to one. Don’t visualize the silver, gold and crystal colors though. Instead, think of a very pale lavender, like an off-white with a blush of lavender. An orchid petal if you will. This will bring you up just a notch so you can continue. It helps to have a chakra item to help remember and visualize the colors. We have a lot of of Charka and Reiki products if you need. Just remember, not purple – indigo, not gold, silver and crystal – orchid, this for the sake of the meditation.

Now for the Meditation

Cleanse your space, know your ambient noises. Be relaxed while you cleanse and look forward to meditation.

Sit comfortably, no need for yoga positions here. Don’t cross the arms or legs, let the arms rest at your sides palms down.

Take several energetic breaths. We’re not talking about inducing hyperventilation here. Just some extra effort beyond normal breathing. Breathe in deeply through the nose and out through the mouth. It should be just energetic enough to be above normal, get the heart rate up a little. Now let it slow down naturally and start relaxing.

Feel your heartrate and breathing slow down naturally. When you are ready, begin the color countdown, stop at “two-indigo”. Here and there, intrusive thoughts, patterns, noises, symbols can happen. Don’t fight it, instead simply acknowledge it and give it a gentle push out. I do that upon exhale. If you fight it, you create more noise on the screen of the mind. Try this; palm facing you, use your dominant hand like an eraser. Go slow and wipe back and forth and down. Most of you will see the energy of your own hand when you do this, how cool, right?

After you spend a couple minutes in indigo, draw energy, channel it. See it flowing in you and out of you in the chest area.

Now, say aloud (or in your mind) as you perform the motions “whenever I cross recall over sight, my brainwaves change to alpha, this is my instant trigger for alpha. This is Fixed (or So Mote it Be).” While you are saying this, bring your dominant hand up over your heart area. Cross recall over sight (cross the fingers). Now return your hand to it’s original position.

Now you meditate on whatever you want. I always suggest visualization exercises.

Other Benefits of Your Instant Trigger.

When you are done, slowly open your eyes. Don’t get up right away, you could get dizzy and fall. Notice colors are enhanced, and so is your sense of smell and hearing. You will naturally come back to beta. Some will see general energy of all things, like white noise on a TV, but nearly completely transparent overlaid on everything. Notice some objects the pattern is more easily seen, sometimes denser, sometimes looser. See the world with witch’s eyes for the first time, awake. Keep repeating this meditation and reinforcing the practice it will over time heighten your senses, physically and psychically.

Sometimes a witch has got to do what a witch has go to do. No time to call corners or cast spells. Cross fingers, go alpha and manifest in the moment. You can also use it to calm the heck down too. I also often do this before reading for tarot clients. As a matter of habit, I do this before calling corners or casting circle. Especially, I even do it intermittently during long rituals or complex spell work.

I will cross my fingers and visualize open parking spots or short lines prior to arrival. I cross fingers when I talk to the Greenman and ask him for a break in the rain so my dogs can potty. My step daughter once sassed me back bad, so with open palm on the receptive hand and crossed fingers above it with the dominant hand, I made clockwise circles at her and cursed her with flatulence. If you know her, ask her if you don’t believe me.

This is the meditation exercise that is precursory to all the other stuff I or my coven peeps meditate on. Now, keep reinforcing this trigger.

Positive affirmations are not just for witches seeking growth and personal power. They are for anyone wishing to overcome, improve, enhance and grow in some form or another. Affirmations are also a huge part of manifesting and practically sewn into the law of attraction.

What do you want? A better career? To get along with someone or a certain crowd? Maybe you’re trying to overcome personal struggles like behavioral health issues or self-confidence issues. With positive affirmations you can move yourself forward in a meaningful and tangible way.

I personally participate in positive affirmations daily, some of them as a matter of routine and ritual. It gets to be a habit and that’s when you know you’re in high gear. But it must be more than just a habit.

Positive Affirmations: More than Just Statements

Making positive affirmations is more than just uttering aloud something positive. We don’t want to just endlessly regurgitate the same old tired wishes. If we aren’t careful, that’s what they become.

There are ways, however, to breathe life and power into these simple statements to facilitate success. That’s what I really want to get into. When I’m serious about doing a spell or the success of a ritual work is imperative, I take my time and prepare for that success.

If I’m going to do a spell, I meditate and focus on what I’m going to do. I first visualize the outcome, I see myself doing it, or see the desired outcome unfold before me. I see all the things that I need to gather and prepare. In my mind I walk through performing it, undistracted and focused. When I give myself to the process in this way, I find much greater success in my magical workings.

When I want a business meeting to go well, I prepare for that too. Mental preparation, sure, to be prepared to ask and answer questions, have options open. I will also strategize where the meeting will take place and consider the timing. Additionally, I let go of what doesn’t serve the goal before the meeting, I don’t want anything non-related to detract from success.

Preparing Affirmations for Effectiveness

So, when it comes to positive affirmations, how do you prepare for best success?

The first thing I would do is keep it simple, what is most important to you? Is it increasing psychic ability? Is it being an effective leader in your group, circle or coven? Maybe you want to be a better teacher or master some aspects of the craft. Maybe it’s to succeed in landing that dream job.

Write your positive affirmations down. Again, keeping it simple, let’s start with no more than three affirmations. Of course, you could do a lot more. You could have pages of them to pick and choose from. I wouldn’t do that though; it’s like spreading yourself too thin and not making any real changes happen.

Let’s pick a topic, say self-love for a perfect example, so write it down, don’t rely on your memory. Here’s three examples:

  • I am worthy of love
  • I reject negative thinking about myself
  • I am enough

These three positive affirmations are good, but just saying this in the mornings do you really think you’ll affect change? Probably not, or minimal at best.

Making it Work For You

So, let’s kick that up a notch or three. Take a little time to meditate, I suggest (as usual) starting with this alpha trigger meditation and achieve that state first. Then go onto focusing on the affirmations. If you are not used to meditation, you can find a space and some time to sit quietly and focus on them one at a time.

Focus on “I am worthy of love”, what does that mean? See yourself, really see yourself. Do you deserve the negative treatment of others? Consider how much you’ve done for others, how hard you have tried. Look at what’s in your heart, look at your intentions. Yes, you, like everyone else, are worthy of love. See? Positive affirmations, please positively affirm this for yourself.

That leads us to “I reject negative thinking about myself”. So, if you are worthy of love, why do you think so negatively about yourself. Have you ever stopped to consider, you have done enough, you’ve tried hard enough? Maybe it’s time you realize it’s not your lack of effort or quality, perhaps it is them, their lack of spiritual or emotional maturity. No one is yours to fix, you can only help someone who wants to be well. So, if it’s not all on you, quit beating yourself up over it, right?

Now, naturally that would lead us to “I am enough”. So, in your meditation, your time of quiet thoughtfulness, if you have realized that you are worthy of love and it’s overdue to start rejecting negative thinking about yourself, it stands to reason you are enough. Right? It is so important to realize this when making positive affirmations, not just speaking the words.

Making Affirmations Work for You

So, rather than just picking a few positive affirmations to say each morning, do you see how you can really bump it up a notch or three? Word have power, especially when our emotions fuel them. If we don’t give ourselves the time to connect with our emotions, our efforts are flat. Take the time to meditate or at the very least some quality quiet time. I find it also helps to pen things down, write it out. It may just shout back at you.

Be consistent, make it a ritual for yourself. I tend to do this for the most part in the mornings. However, if it’s something new or something I feel extra passionate about doing it off and on all day. Maybe you need to work this into your break and lunch schedules too. But do be consistent so that it becomes habit. Revisit your motivations and intentions too.

Back it up, and a potent part of manifesting. Write it down and tape under the lid on your lunchbox. Maybe a post-it-note beside the mirror. Write the affirmations down on little bits of paper and burn them as wishes offered to The All. Make it the last words you utter at bedtime when you turn the lights out.

Believe in yourself, you can and always could do it, positive affirmation just helps you realize it and make it manifest. Blessings.

I’m not the only one that has experienced precognition. It’s pretty clear that some people can tap into future energies, whether through dreams, visions, or feelings. Some skeptics might roll their eyes and mutter “coincidence” or “wishful thinking,” but for those of us who’ve had the experience, there’s no denying it’s a real phenomenon.

For me, it’s a little like magic—conjuring glimpses of what’s to come. And yes, I practice witchcraft (no, it’s not evil), so I’m all about working with energies and the metaphysical. As a witch, the lunar cycle, moon energies, and the Craft play a significant role in my spiritual practice.

But let’s be clear: we’re not talking about some fluffy, whimsical fantasy here. We’re talking about something that’s been studied scientifically—and sometimes, the evidence is pretty compelling.

There are many types of psychics and psychic gifts, precognition plays a role in many of these. Precognition plays a large role in divination practices.

So, What Exactly Is Precognition?

Precognition, in simple terms, is the ability to perceive or sense future events before they happen. Imagine knowing the outcome of a sports game before the final whistle blows or getting a clear vision of an upcoming personal event months in advance. It’s like watching the future unfold in slow motion, except—spoiler alert—you’re not the one making it happen.

Some people are born with this ability, others develop it over time through meditation or by honing their craft (no, not the witchy kind—well, maybe a little). And just because you’ve never had a moment of foresight doesn’t mean it’s not out there. After all, we live in a world that’s filled with energies we can’t always explain.

The universe works in mysterious ways, right? There are also tools to develop, enhance or augment precognition like tarot cards, crystal balls or pendulums.

Can We Really Predict the Future?

The idea of predicting the future isn’t new. In fact, for centuries, people have claimed to have precognitive abilities. But what does science say about it? According to some studies, there’s evidence to suggest that precognition may actually be a thing, even if it’s a small, often overlooked one.

Take, for example, the story of John Godley in 1946. He was a student at Oxford University when he had a dream about horse race winners. The next day, he discovered that the horses he had dreamed about were actually running that day. And get this—both horses won. Godley repeated this bizarre phenomenon several times over the next few years.

Eventually, he wrote down his predictions, sealed them in an envelope, and kept them locked away until the day of the race. The predictions came true, and he became a local celebrity.

Skeptics, of course, would say it’s all a coincidence or, worse yet, fraud. But if we look closer, we start to see a pattern. More and more people claim to have had experiences like Godley’s. They might not be betting on horse races, but they’ve felt that eerie sense of déjà vu or seen flashes of the future in dreams.

Precognition in Science

I know, I know—science isn’t exactly lining up to embrace precognition as an everyday reality. But here’s the kicker: there are actual scientific studies that have investigated the possibility. You’re probably thinking, “Sure, but science has to explain everything, right?” Well, here’s the deal. Scientists have conducted a number of studies on precognition and similar phenomena, and they’ve found something interesting.

In 2014, a study involving 10 participants predicted the movement of the Dow Jones Industrial Average—an important stock market index. In all seven trials, the predictions were accurate, and the participants collectively made a profit of $16,000.

This is just one example, but there’s more. In a 2017 study, 15 participants with some known psi abilities correctly predicted the movement of the German stock market in 38 out of 48 trials. That’s a solid 79.16% accuracy rate.

Now, before you start imagining us all living in mansions and swimming in cash, there’s a catch. If humans can predict the future, why aren’t we all rich by now? Good question. The answer lies in something called “effect size.” My advice is don’t go chasing money, greed and materialism can make you sick. If riches happen, they happen.

There’s no harm in being well-off, but prosperity is better; simply having what you need. I do little money magic here and there as needed, sure. But I won’t fall into the trap of greed, I believe greed is evil and the source of many evils in the world.

The Issue of Small Effects

While the results of precognition experiments are consistently positive, they tend to be small—often too small for skeptics to take seriously. However, let’s break this down: just because the effect is small doesn’t mean it’s insignificant. In fact, the data shows that small but consistent results—across different types of studies and people—are still enough to suggest something real is going on.

A 1989 meta-analysis of 309 precognition studies involving over 50,000 participants found a statistically significant success rate. That’s a lot of data to ignore, right? More recent studies have built on this, with one meta-analysis in 2012 showing even stronger positive results.

And here’s where it gets interesting: when you compare the effect sizes of psi research with other areas of psychology, they’re on par with studies of things like aspirin’s effectiveness or polio vaccines.

To put it bluntly, these studies consistently show that the results of precognition experiments are not just flukes. They’re real enough to be considered credible by those who aren’t immediately dismissing them as “pagan mumbo jumbo.”

The Spiritual and Metaphysical Aspects of Precognition

For me, precognition isn’t just a cool party trick or a convenient way to predict lottery numbers. It’s deeply tied to the metaphysical and spiritual dimensions of existence. As a witch, I’ve spent years learning how to tap into different energies. Magic, whether it’s lunar or solar, involves attuning yourself to cosmic rhythms. For some of us, tapping into future energies is just another form of this spiritual practice.

The Craft, as I like to call it, teaches us to trust our intuition. Over time, this intuition sharpens, almost as if we’re tuning into a spiritual frequency that reveals future possibilities. Think of it like walking into a room where everything feels just a little bit off. Maybe you don’t have all the answers yet, but something’s about to happen—and you just know it.

It’s no coincidence that many witches and metaphysical practitioners report heightened intuitive abilities, including precognition. Whether we’re doing a spell, reading tarot, or simply meditating under the moon’s light, we are working with energies that might give us a glimpse into what’s ahead.

Why Doesn’t Everyone Have Precognitive Abilities?

Here’s a question that’s been bugging me for a while: if precognition is real, why can’t everyone do it? The answer is simple—and a little frustrating. Like any other talent, it varies from person to person. Some people might have strong intuitive abilities, while others may not even notice the subtle signs of the future.

It’s not that precognition is an exclusive club; it’s just that some of us are more attuned to the energies that reveal the future.

But here’s the good news: we can all develop our own psychic abilities, with practice. Whether you practice witchcraft, meditate, or simply pay closer attention to the small signs around you, it’s possible to increase your sensitivity to precognitive experiences.

The universe is constantly sending us messages, but most of us are too distracted to catch them. The key is learning to listen. There are meditations and exercises that can help you develop your intuition.

Final Thoughts

So, is precognition real? Based on personal experiences, scientific studies, and a deep belief in the metaphysical, I’d say it’s definitely something worth exploring. You don’t have to be a witch or a Wiccan to tune into these energies, but it certainly helps if you’re open to the idea. Whether you’re a skeptic or a believer, it’s clear that there’s more to our reality than meets the eye.

As for me, I’ll keep doing my tarot readings, manifesting good energy, and seeing what the universe has in store. Maybe you’ll catch a glimpse of the future, too—if you know where to look.
