Aura energy: I noticed I could see colorful energy around a person, not very often but starting when I was quite young, but it was not a frequent event. Usually, if I saw it, it was on someone really taking joy in something or someone with profound sadness or loss. It became more frequent as I got older, but I also learned how to tune it, and that is what this category and future articles will be about.

Aura EnergyI have noticed when I try, or when other people try and force it, they almost always fail. When you learn to see them in a relaxed, even playful manner, the degree of success is astounding. I also find there are two ways I see them. One is actually on the person, emanating from them, while the other is in my mind while I’m looking at them. Sometimes I experience both at once.

Learning about aura energy means learning how to see, feel, and read subtle forces to enhance psychic awareness, improve health, and enjoy greater success in life.

In this category, I’ll be writing about topics like What is an aura, feel an aura, how to see auras, aura colors, the chakras, interpreting aura colors, health in the aura, self-improvement in the aura, and aura readings.

We have a lot of meditation aids, chakra and reiki products that can help with developing sense and sight of aura energy. We have a lot of these in our physical store. For current deals and updates, follow us on InstagramFacebook (Meta) or TikTok.

Ancient Symbols of Aura Energy

The Astronauts Val Camonica Italy, aura energy

“The Astronauts” Petroglyphs at Val Camonica Italy.

Since ancient times, people have tried to express unseen energy. Cave paintings and rock carvings often show figures with unusual head shapes or radiant patterns.

The Val Camonica petroglyphs in Northern Italy are striking examples. Some say they show ancient astronauts, but I think they might represent something else entirely.

Maybe they show aura energy glowing around the beings themselves.

I love Ancient Aliens and completely believe we are not alone, but not every carving needs to be an extraterrestrial fashion statement. I think those ancient artists were witnessing something real, something energetic.

Native American and Mayan headdresses could have been inspired by similar visions of luminous energy around people. Across many cultures, radiance and power have always been intertwined.

Even the imagery of “holy” people through time suggests aura awareness. Paintings and carvings show figures surrounded by glowing halos long before Christianity. Egypt, Greece, India, and Italy all left such images.

Moses, according to scripture, returned from speaking with Yahweh with skin so bright that Aaron and others feared to approach him. Apparently, enlightenment was literal that day.

Homer described the aura as a luminous nebula born from divine essence, symbolizing power.

Auras appear in sacred texts from every civilization, each one treating them as signs of vitality or spirit. Hindus call this life energy Prana. Paracelsus, the sixteenth-century alchemist, called it munis.

The Search for Life Force

In the eighteenth century, Franz Mesmer called this subtle energy “animal magnetism.” He believed a magnetic, fluid-like energy flowed through all living things. People flocked to his demonstrations, some fainting dramatically, others feeling healed. Modern medicine dismissed him, but he started a conversation that never ended.

Baron von Reichenbach, another eighteenth-century physician, studied what he called “od” or “odic force.” He named it after the Norse god Odin, believing this energy existed in magnets, crystals, and human beings alike.

He even conducted a famous experiment with a young woman named Angelique Cottin in 1844. She was said to emit electrical currents strong enough to move objects. Whether the story was exaggerated or not, it captured public fascination with invisible forces.

Physicians today sometimes use the phrase etheric force to describe similar ideas. The terminology changes, but the underlying concept remains steady: energy radiates from every living thing. Whether we call it prana, chi, odic force, or aura energy, humans have been trying to understand it since we first noticed the glow around life itself.

Aura Energy: Science Meets Spirit

Isaac Newton Prism Experiment

Depiction of Isaac Newton’s Prism Experiment.

Isaac Newton, best known for gravity and apples, also explored color, light, and energy. In 1666 he passed white light through two prisms and discovered refraction and reflection. His experiments revealed the spectrum and hinted at unseen frequencies surrounding us.

Newton speculated invisible waves might extend beyond visible ranges. Although most people remember him for physics, he was also quietly chasing the same mystery that aura observers describe.

Centuries later, Dr. Walter J. Kilner (1847–1920) sought a way for anyone to see aura energy. In his book The Human Aura, he described a screen made of two glass panes a quarter inch apart, containing dicyanin, an indigo dye. The screen allowed people to perceive light in the ultraviolet range and consequently to see auras.

Critics mocked him mercilessly, but later generations called him a visionary. Kilner believed aura color and shape reflected health, emotion, and spiritual condition.

Oscar Bagnall continued this work. In 1937 he designed special spectacles for viewing auras. He wrote about lenses that filtered specific wavelengths, helping ordinary people detect the faint glows surrounding bodies.

His approach was inventive, if not universally accepted. You could say his spectacles were ahead of their time, or perhaps just ahead of their patience.

Then the story of Semyon Kirlian, a Russian scientist and accidental discoverer of aura photography. In 1939, while repairing electrical equipment, he noticed a spark of light when an object touched a charged plate. He placed a leaf on the plate and photographed the effect.

The result showed a brilliant halo. Over time, Kirlian and his wife refined the process, capturing luminous fringes around living and non-living subjects. Critics said it was simply moisture and electricity, but believers saw proof of aura energy. I think both sides might be half right.

The Luminous Language of Faith

Throughout medieval Europe, saints described and painted different aura forms. They recognized the Nimbus and Halo around the head, the Aureola enveloping the body, and The Glory uniting all light. These forms spoke to spiritual rank and divine connection. Artists later adapted these symbols into religious art, giving every holy figure its own energetic glow.

Those depictions weren’t just decorative. They were a coded understanding that “holiness” radiates. Even modern portraits of enlightened teachers show similar light. It’s fascinating that from Moses’ shining skin to modern energy photography, the same visual language continues. Maybe that consistency means we’ve been noticing the same field for thousands of years.

I personally do not believe that any one religion makes one “holy” or worthy of being painted with a golden glowing aura. I believe it has much more to do with spiritual energy, emotions and sheer life force.

Experiencing Aura Energy

Gregory about Aura EnergyWhen I practice seeing aura energy, I focus on staying relaxed. If I push too hard, I lose it. When I breathe evenly and soften my gaze, I see faint outlines or ripples of color. Sometimes the colors shift with emotion or fatigue.

I’ve learned to treat this as a game, not a test. Playfulness seems to make perception easier.

You can try it too. Choose soft lighting and a neutral background. Look just past the edge of a person’s face or shoulders. Keep your attention light. The aura often appears first as a shimmer, then as faint color.

Blink gently when your eyes strain. The moment you laugh or relax, the glow strengthens. That pattern alone should tell you something about how energy and emotion intertwine.

Practice on plants or crystals. They hold steady energy and help train your eyes. Keep notes about what you see. Over time you’ll notice differences between the vibrant energy of a healthy plant and the weaker outline of one that’s wilting.

If you’re skeptical, good. Take that skepticism for a walk-through experience instead of debate.

The Skeptics’ Corner

Skeptics always amuse me. They often demand double-blind studies before believing their own eyes. That’s fine, but many scientific breakthroughs began as things the experts refused to see. Kilner was mocked, Bagnall was ignored, and Kirlian was told his photos were tricks. Yet people keep seeing auras. Maybe the issue isn’t with the light but with the filters in our minds.

Science will eventually catch up, as it usually does. After all, Newton’s “mystical” fascination with color became optics. Mesmer’s animal magnetism prefigured studies of bio-electromagnetism. What gets dismissed as fantasy often turns out to be simply early.

I suspect aura research will follow that same arc. I love that science is forever proving witchcraft and metaphysics.

Living with Awareness of Energy

Working with aura energy makes everyday life richer. It adds dimension to relationships, creativity, and healing. When I sense someone’s energy, I understand more about what they need. I notice when I’m depleted and when I’m vibrant. Awareness helps me shift my mood before it spills into action.

Sometimes, when I meditate or stand in sunlight, I see my own energy flicker and expand. It reminds me that vitality isn’t only physical. Energy hums through emotion, thought, and spirit. That awareness keeps me kinder to myself and others.

Looking Forward

In the next few articles, I’ll explain more about how to see auras and feel an aura. We’ll explore aura colors, the chakras, and interpreting aura colors. Later we’ll move into health in the aura, self-improvement in the aura, and aura readings. My goal is to make aura energy practical, approachable, and maybe even a little fun.

So stay curious and open. Remember that trying too hard blocks progress, while light curiosity unlocks it. Relax your eyes, your mind, and your skepticism. Let energy show itself instead of forcing it to perform. Aura energy is already there, waiting for you to notice.
