Wednesday magic spells and rituals. Ruled by Mercury, this day is ideal for sharpening your mind, speaking your truth, and clearing mental fog. If you have been feeling scattered or misunderstood, today offers the energy to set things straight.
While Tuesday was all about courage, Wednesday invites you to communicate and think clearly. It is a great day for writing, learning, studying, or speaking. Mercury rules the day, so expect quick thoughts, clever ideas, and plenty of messages flying around. Get swept up in it—or ride it like a broomstick.
The name “Wednesday” comes from the Old English Wōdnesdæg, named after the god Woden, a form of Odin. But astrologically, the ruler is Mercury. That is why in languages like French (Mercredi), Spanish (Miércoles), and Italian (Mercoledì), the name points to Mercury. Like Odin, Mercury is a trickster, a wanderer, and a master of language.
If you have not read my planetary days and hours post yet, check that out first. It gives solid insight into how each day aligns with a planet, so you can time your spell work better.

Once all seven days are posted, I’ll circle back and add even more spells and expanded rituals. But for now, use what you like and make your morning magic fast and focused.
Use this information to craft your Wednesday morning 20 minute ritual. Additionally, instructions appear at the bottom of this post.
Wednesday Magic Spells: Words, Wits & Wisdom
Wednesday works best for spells involving speaking, learning, and clearing mental fog. This is a great day to write in your grimoire, plan future spell work, or start studying that topic you have been meaning to dive into for months.
Because Mercury also rules travel, this is an excellent day to do road opener spells or anything involving movement—physical, emotional, or spiritual. If you have been stuck in your head, use Wednesday magic to move that energy forward.
Additionally, this is a day to write letters, set boundaries, and cast spells for truth. You can enchant your voice, charm your words, or create sigils to help you remember and retain knowledge. Keep your focus on clarity and communication.
Before you start anything magical, be sure to check for void-of-course moon times. Mercury’s energy may be fast and clear, but when the moon is void, things still feel sluggish or misdirected. I keep a lunar app handy and suggest you do too.
Wednesday is also good for movement rituals. Even a short morning walk can help activate Mercury’s energy in your body. Let your thoughts wander, then use them to cast.
Wednesday Morning Journaling (Yes, Before Coffee)
If Tuesday’s journaling helped process dream chaos, Wednesday magic spells and rituals’ version brings logic and direction. Start by grabbing your journal and writing anything you remember from your dreams. Even if they were strange—especially if they were strange—get them down.
Then, take a minute to write how you feel. Mercury loves clarity, and writing it out helps you identify what needs saying or changing. If your dreams were silent, that is fine. Write a few lines about your plans or thoughts for the day. Say it out loud as you write it—it helps center your voice and intention.
I keep a notebook right by my bed, and I do not worry about spelling, grammar, or meaning. If the dream was about a parade of frogs teaching algebra, I still write it down. Later, I might find a pattern or not—but the act of journaling alone opens my awareness.
This habit sets the tone for clear thinking throughout the day. It also reminds me that my thoughts are part of my magical practice. Thoughts lead to words, words lead to action, and action leads to spell craft.
Wednesday Magic Spells: Tea for Clarity
Your brain deserves a boost today. Try a blend of peppermint and rosemary or either/or. Peppermint sharpens your thinking while rosemary boosts memory and opens your intuition. Together, they create a tea that wakes up your brain without frying it.
If you need a calming addition, add lemon balm. It keeps Mercury from turning into anxiety. Add honey and a twist of lemon for taste, but also to amplify solar clarity and joy.
As you sip, imagine your thoughts sorting themselves out like alphabetized spell ingredients. This is not just tea—it is liquid clarity. Drink it slowly, with intention. You are steeping your thoughts in magic.
If you want to charge your tea further, place a piece of citrine or fluorite next to your mug while it steeps. That adds energy and focus.
Wednesday Tarot Spread – Where’s Your Head At?
Mercury does not do vague. That is why this tarot spread is short and to the point.
Draw three cards:
Left card: What is clouding my thoughts right now?
Middle card: Where should I focus my mental energy today?
Right card: What truth do I need to hear or say?
Before you draw, rub a little peppermint oil on your hands or place a blue lace agate nearby. Set your deck down, breathe in, and focus. Then pull. Keep it simple. This is not the day for 15-card epic layouts.
If you want, jot your reading in your journal. Even one sentence per card will help bring the message into the day with you.

Wednesday Prayers – Hermes, Thoth, Odin
Wednesday magic spells and rituals correspond well with divine messengers—Hermes, Thoth, and Odin. All three are connected to language, insight, knowledge, and the spaces between worlds. Call on them when you need truth, inspiration, or magical direction.
Here is a simple prayer to Hermes for today’s work:
O Hermes, guide of words and guardian of roads,
Open my thoughts to clarity and my voice to truth.
Let my steps follow wisdom and my words land with purpose.
May I listen as deeply as I speak, and may my path stay clear.
You can say this aloud before spell work, during meditation, or even while journaling. Hermes moves fast, so he hears fast too.
If Odin calls to you instead, light a white or silver candle, speak your intention clearly, and ask for insight. Then be ready—he rarely whispers.
What Wednesday Spells Work Well?
Wednesday magic spells benefit from the day’s ruling planet Mercury, making it ideal for spells that sharpen communication, boost clarity, and reveal truth. Use this energy to write clearly, speak with confidence, or study with focus. Even simple spells can work wonders today.
Charm a pen or pencil by holding it in both hands and stating your intention: that it channels truth and wisdom. Picture it glowing with silver or yellow light. Use it for journaling, spell work, or writing anything important.
You can also craft a sigil for learning or memory. Draw a symbol that feels right to you, charge it with breath and focus, and place it somewhere visible. Every glance reconnects you to its power.
If you are preparing for a hard conversation or public speaking, try a voice-strengthening spell. Hold blue lace agate to your throat while you speak a truth three times in front of a mirror. This crystal calms nerves and helps you speak with confidence and compassion.
For mental clarity, light a yellow or white candle dressed in peppermint or rosemary oil. Speak your goal out loud, then sit quietly as the flame burns. Add citrine or fluorite to amplify the effect—citrine clears self-doubt and boosts personal power, while fluorite filters out mental fog and helps you stay focused.
On Mercury days, words carry weight. Whether spoken, written, or whispered in a spell, your voice becomes your power. Use it wisely, and let your intention be clear.
Wednesday Herbs for Mercurial Minds
For Wednesday’s magic spells, consider these herbs. You can burn, brew, or carry these herbs to amplify your spell work:
Peppermint: mental clarity and focus
Lavender: calms nerves, opens the mind
Rosemary: memory, divination, and purification
Fennel: boosts intuition and sharpens thinking
Thyme: great for truth, courage, and clearing confusion
Make a small sachet with any of these and keep it near your altar, your notebook, or your phone—wherever you need Mercury’s boost.
I like to light peppermint and rosemary incense while working on writing spells. The scent keeps me focused and adds an extra layer of magic to every word.
Wednesday Crystals for Clarity and Expression
Wednesday magic spells and rituals get a boost from Mercury’s stones bring focus, speed, and connection:
Fluorite: great for study, clarity, and absorbing knowledge
Blue Lace Agate: helps you speak with ease and kindness
Citrine: clears the mind and boosts confidence
Aquamarine: helps express deep emotions safely
Labradorite: protects your energy while increasing intuition
Use these while writing, spell crafting, or meditating. Set one on your journal or wear it throughout the day. I have a citrine on my desk right now, and yes, it does make a difference.
Wednesday Is a Colorful Day
The colors for today are yellow, silver, and sky blue. Yellow supports logic and focus. Blue helps you speak with compassion. Silver connects you to the divine mind.
Wear these colors, light matching candles, or even write your journal entries in yellow ink. Magic finds you through the small things.
Today, I lit a silver taper and wrote this post in a yellow hoodie. Mercury noticed. I could feel it.
Wednesday Morning Ritual: 20 Minutes, I Promise
Wednesday magic spells and rituals, keep it short, simple, and infused with Mercury’s magic. Do not overthink it—just follow the energy.
Start with tea. Peppermint and rosemary is best. Sip while you journal. Write a few sentences about your dreams or thoughts for the day. 3 minutes.
Read 3–5 pages of a magical book or article. Keep it light and fast, 5 minutes.
Pull a three-card tarot spread from earlier. Focus on clarity and direction. 5 minutes.
Say the prayer to Hermes or god or goddess of your choosing. Speak it with intention. 1 minute.
Speak your gratitude. Just say it out loud while brushing your hair, getting dressed, packing lunch etc.
Choose a quick spell. Enchant and light a yellow candle, hold a fluorite crystal, and say one truth aloud you need to carry today. 3 minutes.
Cleanse your energy. Use Florida Water on your wrists and neck. Refresh your energy and cleanse your aura. Take a deep breath. Visualize white light running through you, clearing any fog or static.
Then say, “I am clear, focused, and heard.” That is your Mercury charge. You are ready. 2 minutes.
Now I’ll start working on Thursday’s magical routines, and I will hit it with the same precision and magical sass. Book a tarot reading with me—live or in person—or with one of the few readers I trust.
This makes sense for me on Wednesday and I didn’t really notice. I am always recharged and ready for a new start and I always plan on this day as well. I do not like tea but the crystals and herbs help for recommendations. Thank you!
🙂 Good morning and hello Megan. 🙂 I will bet you would like tea if you made it to suit you. A lot of people don’t like something until is is made to suit their unique tastes. 🙂 I know you don’t like coffee, but try the recommended teas with honey and possibly a little lemon juice if you wish. The point is for the magical properties and even scientifically it’s proven sipping a hot drink has beneficial. Sipping warm beverages like herbal tea or even hot water may offer a range of gentle health perks. They can support digestion, clear nasal passages, and encourage a sense of calm. Additionally, these drinks may boost blood flow, help with hydration, and soothe feelings of stress or anxiety. But you know me, enchant it. Whatever herb your tea is, enchant it for those properties to bless you, a powerful part of a morning routine.
Also, I am recommending teas that correspond with specific days, but each day corresponds with many herbal teas. You don’t necessarily have to have those teas. Find one or two you like best for taste (and magical properties) and stick with those if you wish. 🙂
I am really glad Wednesday makes sense for you dear. It is also one of my favorite all-round days for doing magic. 🙂 Blessings.
I don’t remember my dreams much. I do have a journal now for when I do. The ones I remember are increasing in frequency, but still rare. Is there a way to remove this block? I find even if I don’t understand the message that writing it down somehow clears something a bit.
There are many good herbs to help induce dreaming, try as tea at night, but also use as essential oils; lavender for one. Sachets of calendula (marigold), rose, mugwort and jasmine. Teas, essential oils or sachets. If you have Scott Cunningham’s Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs, look up herbs for psychic power, prophetic dreams and visions. Any of those work well.
First, thanks as always for your information. I’m wondering if there is a more in-depth tarot spread that would still be timely one could use in place of the 3 card occasionally to mix up the daily?? I also find that my daily rits and magicks have become much more streamlined in the morning which helps my focus.
Morning Ms. Luna 😉 You’re free to do whatever Tarot spread you wish. I am simply designing these “dailies” posts, to help busy witches craft simple morning rituals that take around 20 minutes. If you have more time on your hands, by all means do whatever daily spread you wish. For a daily spread though, …. I like to keep it very simple, so the focus during the day is easy. 😉 Blessings!
